IRAAL is a professional association which provides a forum for students, teachers, lecturers and researchers engaged in theoretical research, and for all interested in language and in language issues.
Since its foundation in 1975, IRAAL has aimed to support and promote research in to Linguistics, Applied Linguistics and Sociolinguistics in Ireland.
IRAAL also aims to disseminate information on research through the organization of scientific meetings, seminars, lectures and conferences on issues and themes of current interest and through its publications.
It aims to keep its members in contact with international research by sending representatives to AILA’s international conferences and scientific meetings.
