Conference
The New
Languages of Ireland
With immigration and the growth of new communities, a wider range of languages is flourishing in Ireland than ever before. While our new immigrants are being encouraged to gain the necessary language skills to function in Ireland to their satisfaction, at the same time Irish society stands to benefit from the greater linguistic diversity which they represent. This conference is intended as a first step in examining this challenge. A further important consideration will be the maintenance of mother tongues among future generations of speakers in this country.
